Domestic violence is a complex social problem affecting families from all social and economic backgrounds. Domestic violence is a serious crime and causes profound physical and emotional damage to the family unit and its individual members, as well as all society. It is our policy to prefer the use of lawful physical arrest as the primary option in response to acts of domestic violence, and to work cooperatively with those social service agencies seeking to prevent domestic violence. We work closely with the Madison County Police Department Victims' Advocates and Alternatives Inc. These agencies are directly responsible to assist victims when they need social services.
We have three officers who have extensive training and
certifications to deal with Domestic Violence cases and instruction.
